Mūrdha taila — the anointing,
unchanged in spirit
Two thousand years before the modern hair industry, the Charaka Saṃhitā set down the practice of mūrdha taila — the regular anointing of the head with oil — and the benefits it was understood to bring: hair that does not fall, does not grey, is firmly rooted and long. Restore is built on that practice, unchanged in spirit and elevated by what we now understand of the plants themselves.
It begins, as the classical texts insist it should, with sesame oil — the foremost of all oils for the scalp in Ayurveda, warming in nature and rich in essential fatty acids. Into it we slow-infuse the great Ayurvedic hair botanicals: bhringraj, the herb the tradition names the king of hair; amla, one of the richest natural sources of vitamin C; fenugreek and hibiscus for strength and shine; curry leaf, shikakai, and reetha for cleansing and conditioning; and red onion, traditionally used to temper breakage. Argan oil lends its softness. A sandalwood essential oil blend closes the formula.
To this ancient base we add two modern actives included for what contemporary science has shown them to do. Capilia Longa™, a turmeric-derived active, has demonstrated up to 89% reduction in hair loss and a 52% increase in hair density in supplier clinical testing. Rosemary, in a six-month clinical trial, produced results comparable to 2% minoxidil — with notably less scalp irritation. Where five thousand years of Ayurvedic wisdom meet modern plant science.
